Keratinocytes

Keratinocytes are cells constituting 90% of the surface layer of the skin (epidermis) and its appendages (nails, hair, fur, feathers, scales). They synthesize keratin (keratinization), a fibrous protein, insoluble in water, which provides the skin its impermeability property and outdoor protection.
